Today in Review: Jesse James~”I Look So Good”

Hey Ya’ll!!

Tryin’ to find sista’ white cowboy boots today!!  Man…whites a tough color!  ;)  Anyone have any suggestions!  Checkin’ out Mercury recording artist Jesse James and her video for “I Look So Good (Without You)”.  My neighbor gave me her CD a few months ago and I really liked it….although in NO WAY, shape, or form would I consider this country!  Fun, catchy and a bit racy, but pushing crossover to the limit!!! I give this video a 7 for sexy! ;)

Check out the video @

In My Skin – Day 7 | Intent.com

Weight:  187

Size:  12

Exercise:  Yoga today and 3 miles of walking on the treadmill yesterday.

187!!!  Not a budge in 7 days, not good!  That isn’t typical for me.  I usually can at least get down 1 or 2 pounds in a week.  I need to try harder I suppose.

Yoga was great today.  I tried the yoga class at my new gym, 24 hour fitness, and it wasn’t so bad.  I usually have a problem with the classes they hold at the gym.  They just aren’t usually held with the focus, breathing and flowing nature that I am used to in a yoga class.  There were some poses that were new to me, or she called them something other than what I am used to, but all-in-all I am so happy that I went.  A friend of mine joined me, which was wonderful too.  I will definitely be going back.

I walked 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday at the gym too.  I am so excited for the S.G.K. 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk in October in San Francisco.  Our team is supposed to be created tomorrow, then I can register.  I am hoping that this will get me back into the exercise groove and what better way to get motivated then such a wonderful cause.  I am going to try and raise more than the minimum $2300 too.  Wish me luck!

Tomorrow is another day at the gym walking on the treadmill.  Most likely another 3 miles.  I am going to try and add a mile on every couple of week I suppose.  Build my endurance, strengthen my feet, legs and lungs.  Love it!

xo

Hello my fellow writers.

This song’s for you to do your typing to.

You will enjoy posting to your blogs and websites with a good digital bass sounding headset on, and some wicked dance mix tunes.

It will energize you as you write, edit or work on manuscripts, postings and blogs.

Enjoy my friends! :)

Mike Sleath, Jesse LaBelle & Breakfast Television.

My friend Mike Sleath is a pretty talented guy. He’s busted out of the high school music scene, dabbled in some pop-punk tween greatness and is now making waves as a sought after session musician. He recently had the opportunity to appear on Breakfast Televsion with singer-songwriter Jesse LaBelle.

Not one to be shy of the ladies, Sleath will be breaking hearts everywhere. Take a peek at his performance with Jess LaBelle on Breakfast Television.

Renewed Metabolism

I bought and completely read Jillian’s Master Your Metabolism. It truly changed the way I think about food, and for the past week I have been following her food suggestions and taking her supplements.

In addition, I’ve been religiously doing circuit training. I am seeing results more than I ever have in the past, and I can feel muscle forming (been working with the circuit training for going on 3 weeks now). I can honestly say that I feel stronger than I ever have in my life!

In the book, she talks about really cleaning up your diet. I’ve been eating 100% organic everything – no preservatives, no diet foods, only whole, natural foods. Mostly beans, whole grains, oats, vegetables, milk, fruit, and nuts. It was hard the first day – really hard. I mean, I’m essentially cutting sugar out of my diet!

I should say that I was already a vegetarian, and I avoid non-organic as much as possible – but I’ve never gone hardcore with it before. Now is the time to do it. I’m kicking this show into high gear, and I’m reaching goal this summer. I feel healthy, and accomplished, and happy!

Now that I’ve finished my Jillian plug (she’s my superhero and chick role model) I’m going to finish watching awesome DVR’d shows: How I Met Your Mother (Neil Patrick Harris is so incredible in this show), The Bachelor (guilty pleasure, lots of dramz), and the usual late night lineup, a little Jay and a little Conan!

You call this a fit test?

I call it torture!

I did the fit test and didn’t really even go all out like I was supposed to and it was still REALLY hard. The purpose of the fit test is to gauge your current fitness level for use as a baseline during future fit tests, which occur every 15 days.

The fit test was pretty simple, in theory, but brutal once executed. It starts with a cardio warm up. I should mention at this point that I have never liked cardio. What I’ve gravitated to is low intensity, steady state cardio because it is comfortable. This  balls to the wall cardio is killer for someone like me and is completely out of my comfort zone.

After the warm up you are prompted to perform a certain exercise as many times as possible during a timed minute.  It looks so easy. You stare at the television screen in disbelief and think there is no way it could be a challenge and wonder if maybe you’ve wasted your hard-earned cash. WRONG! My heart rate was jacked the entire time. Not to mention I was humbled beyond imagination when it was all said and done. I want to say, “I suck,” but that kind of negative self talk isn’t acceptable. Let’s just say there is major room for improvement. Of course there is more than one move and you get a breather while the next exercise is being explained/set up but somehow, for me, I just found it HARD.

I did graduate to real push ups. I’ve done girlie push ups on my knees for the last couple years simply because I can and because…you guessed it…they are comfortable. I’ve never been good at real push ups so I just stayed away. I figured I’d just bite the bullet and suffer a little as I am long over due. I’m glad I did. I felt really good although I wasn’t very good at them.

The bright part of my fit test workout was doing it with my husband. That’s right. He’s decided to take the 60 day Insanity challenge with me. He looks sexier to me already!

I’ll post our fit day results both from now and our 15 day update on day 15. Let’s pray for some improvement!

Hugs-

Music Monday 01/11/2010

Rather than listing songs I am listening to with an accompanying music video for #musicmonday on Twitter I’ve decided to throw up a blog post every Monday highlighting some of my favorite songs of the past week. Feel free to leave some of your recent favorite tracks in the comment section below.

The Thermals- “We Were Sick”
Unfortunately, The Thermals Now We Can See album was one of the most over-looked releases of 2009 and “We Were Sick” is an instant toe-tapper. If you’re between the ages of 16 and 21 you’ve got to love the last chorus: “We were sick! Sick in the brain! Too young to kill! Too old to contain!”

Yeasayer- “Ambling Alp”
Take my word for it, Yeasayer’s Odd Blood album will stand the test of time and will undoubtedly appear on many ‘best of the year’ lists come December. One of the first releases of 2010, Odd Blood enjoys a unique blend of electronic indie pop. Imagine Kurt Cobain writing lyrics for She Wants Revenge.

Jay-Z- “What More Can I Say”
I’ve recently been revisiting The Black Album and “What More Can I Say” has stuck with me. With a terrific beat and some of Jigga’s best autobiographical lyrics, this track is yet another demonstration of Jay-Z’s domination of the hip hop game.

Parents, You Have Humbled Us

Events like AVN absolutely humble us. Not the porn stars or extravagant events…but the couples attending the events. Specifically the couples who are parents and hold down regular jobs back at home.

Awe inspiring. Seriously. And very, very humbling.

To see people who work all day, come home to take care of kids every night, wake up early to take care of kids and then head off to work to repeat the cycle is impressively exhausting to those of us without children. To then see these people party our asses off is absolutely Stunning. You’d think they’d want to find a quiet corner and curl up in a catatonic state. Instead they start drinking early, dance and party until after dawn, partying like rock stars and fucking like porn stars. We can’t keep up, no matter how hard we try, and have raised the white flag at house parties, at resorts like Desire and Hedo, and at multi-day events like Bliss Fusion and PurrfectLV Intrigue…they just keep going, and going, and going long after we’re gone.

We are without kids. We sleep when we want, as much as we want. We have quiet mornings and easy nights. And we are blown away time and time again. You parents are freaking amazing.
